Sci-fi hologram technology, though it sounds good, is not possible unfortunately. But fortunately we can get close to the same experience using clever engineering. By just playing the video through high-speed fans we can create the illusion of 3D holograms; that is what holographic 3D fan displays are. LED strips placed on a fan blade create the effect of a 3D hologram and your brain fills up the gaps since the blades are spinning really fast. It works, looks great especially in the dark. We have sourced various types of these holographic fans so in this blog I want to share everything I know about these products.
The best use case for these units is advertising. They are truly eye-catching and fit the purpose perfectly. As long as you are not planning to play a full Christopher Nolan movie (as the director intended) on them then you don't need to look for very expensive high-quality ones. Mid-tier models will also handle your advertising needs just fine. But keep in mind the performance of the lower-price models is poor under direct light as with any type of screen; no surprises there.
The two models we worked most recently are F56 (56 cm, 672 LEDs, 72 W) and X6 (55 cm, 624 LEDs, 48 W). Same 4-blade layout, same control idea, slightly different power and packing. Factories in this niche also quote smaller desktop fans and much larger splicing walls. Do not treat two SKUs as the whole market.
Small industry knowledge about these 2 models: X6 is basically an upgraded version of the F56 model. The quality and performance are the same but X6 has less intricate parts so they are easier to manufacture, making them the cheaper option.
What the Line Looks Like
As with every product line we talked about in this blog this product also has many types and models. Of course it would be impossible to talk about all of them here. I am not planning to write a novel about a gadget. So we are gonna focus on the 2 most popular models as usual.
Both models are a black motor hub with four slim LED blades in an X array. Blades can be detached. You clip them on after unpacking. Net weight is low: about 0.6 kg on F56 and 0.4 kg on X6. That is why a single unit looks like a toy in photos and then throws a surprisingly large image once it is spinning.
Resolution on the sheets is in the 2000 × 624–672 class. Brightness is quoted at 2600 cd/m². Viewing angle is 178°. Those numbers are catalogue figures. What you actually see depends on content, ambient light, and whether several fans are synced as one wall.
Storage is 8 GB or 32 GB. Formats on the sheet include mp4, avi, rmvb, and jpg. Wireless power to the blades, Bluetooth audio, timed on/off, and OTA updates are listed as supported.
Mounting and Splicing Setups
A single unit is usually a shop-window or booth piece. The kit we unpacked includes a wall bracket. Ceiling poles and floor stands are separate accessories. Pick the mount from the room, not from the nicest render.
- Wall mount: default for retail windows and indoor posters
- Ceiling pole: events and aisles where floor space is expensive
- Floor stand: demos, pop-ups, and rental stock that has to move
The combination that actually gets interesting for B2B is splicing. Software can crop one video and push it across a grid. Factory sheets show 3×1, 3×2, 3×3, and even a 5×8 wall (40 fans). But these are standard. Theoretically you can combine as many of them as you want. But out of caution it would be better to buy some spare fans if you are planning to make a wall out of them. One failing blade can ruin your entire image. Better safe than sorry.
Specs That Matter for Buyers
As with every product you need to lock down the specs before making a purchase. These are the common specs you need to think about:
- Diameter: 55 cm (X6) vs 56 cm (F56).
- LED count and type: 624 vs 672 of 1615 RGB+.
- Power: 48 W (24 V / 2 A) vs 72 W (24 V / 3 A). Input is AC 100–240 V 50/60 Hz
- Memory: 8 GB is enough for a short loop. 32 GB only matters if the client stores a library on the device
- Software path: mobile app, PC software, and TF-card copy.
- Splicing: write the max grid you need (for example 3×3).
- Mounts: wall kit in the carton is standard. Pole and floor hardware is usually extra.
This is indoor display equipment. They are not waterproof or dustproof. Do not hang these outdoors without a separate enclosure. Several types of enclosures are available but they are extra.
Control, Content, and What to QC
Control is one of the strong points of these products. You don't want to climb to the ceiling every time you want to turn them on and off. Luckily the manufacturers thought about this well. These products come with several control options. You can control them over WiFi from the app on your phone, with PC software, or an IR remote. Of course they have internal memory too so you can place your video collections in them and switch during operation.
As usual for every order I personally inspect them to see if there are any quality issues. This is what is worth checking if you are gonna do the quality inspection yourself.
- Seat every blade until the clips fully lock. The warning sheet exists because unlocked blades fly out
- Run 30 minutes and watch wobble, noise, and heat at the hub
- Play a dark-background video and a bright logo. Check flicker and color banding
- Pair two or three units and confirm they stay in sync
- Load content from app, PC, and TF card.
- Power-cycle from the remote and from a wall timer. Timed on/off should survive a night
Packaging and Carton Math
You will get a color box for these, not generic yellow boxes. The F56 kit in the carton is: box, manual, motor, 4 blades, remote, wall bracket, screws, blade-fit sheet, power supply, and cable.
Packed numbers we use for freight:
- F56 single pack about 38 × 19.5 × 10.5 cm, net 0.6 kg, gross about 1.4 kg. Ten units in one master about 52.5 × 40 × 41 cm / 15 kg
- X6 single pack about 32 × 20 × 8 cm, net 0.4 kg, gross about 0.95 kg. Ten units in one master about 42.5 × 35 × 43 cm / 10 kg
Volume still drives sea cost more than weight.
Price Band (FOB China)
Factory quotes move with LED packages, memory, motors.
On current 55–56 cm 4-blade export lines of this type, EXW/FOB China unit prices typically sit in the high hundreds of RMB, which for planning is about US$70–100 per unit before stands, extra memory, custom frames, and testing. The 48 W class sits toward the lower end of that band. The 72 W, higher-LED class sits toward the upper end.
Who This Product Is For
This category fits:
- Retail and mall window programs that can dim the ambient light
- Event, booth, and rental companies that want a moving 3D logo without a LED wall
- Agencies building a small splicing grid (3×1 up to 3×3) for indoor campaigns

It is a weaker fit if you need outdoor-rated media, a true volumetric hologram, or a bright lobby that never goes dark. For outdoors or sunny rooms it is better to get real screens which we also source; give up on the hologram.
